Digital Atmosphere

I've always had mixed feelings about Digital Atmosphere, owing partially to my loyalty to Linux and it's ability to generate about any combination of weather map thanks to free software packages like GemPak and McIDAS.

When it comes to my website, I will be the first to admit that there are never enough hours in the day to allow me the sort of time I need to build it into what I really want. I'm forced to take shortcuts when adding products to my weather section, for example - and DA is one of those shortcuts.

Since the actual data processing for most of the meteorological content you see in the "Weather" section is done on my server at the house, I'm limited to only generating a small set of the products I would like to one day include here. Bandwidth, processing power and free-time all work against me in that regard.

But to keep the steady growth momentum I've had going with the "Weather" section, I've retrofitted DA to provide a new Regional Radar image (above). It adds nicely to the Local Radar product that's been hosted here for months now. And since DA will allow me to easily overlay additional data types, I believe it will make a nice addition to the site.
